This blog is designed to be a happy and helpful environment, and to keep it that way, the following rules must be followed:

1. Keep all comments and questions class related, no negative comments, no party plans.

2. No profane language, and no negative comments about people, places or organizations.

3. You are more than welcome to post your opinion in a productive way, however, it must not offend. I encourage discussions, but not bullying or prejudicial remarks.

4. Do not include your personal contact information anywhere on the blog, and do NOT link it to your private webpage (facebook, twitter, etc.) Anything posted here is open on the World Wide Web!

5. Ask questions of me or your fellow classmates, but do not expect an instant answer. Be patient and someone will respond!

About Me

My photo
This is going to be a great year! I believe in hands-on methods to help my students learn, and I try to utilize the many farms and other facilities available in this area to help put information to use. Many activities will be offered this semester, and a few of which will have required attendence. And don't worry - I have a fully agricultural background and am passionate about helping my students learn what I love. My husband and I own 400 head of cattle and are active in Team Roping and Barrel Racing Competitions. I am also a past (and sometimes present) free-lance writer for the Ozarks Farm and Neighbor and the FFA New Horizons magazine. What I don't know, I'll find out, so feel free to ask questions!

The FFA Creed

It's that time of year when all freshman Ag students are asked to memorize the FFA Creed. Memorize you say? Yes - Memorize. It can be done, and has been done for several generations. Many students ask me what the best way to tackle this five-paragraph document is. Here are some basic tips:

1. Print out the .pdf printable version I have posted on the blog. This will allow you to mark on the document instead of using the one in the book.

2. Break the Creed into smaller peices, chunking it up in a way that you feel more comfortable.

3. If you don't understand it - research it! If there are parts of the Creed you simply do not understand, take the time to google it! Once you understand the language and to what historical or statiscal fact it is pertaining to, it is much easier to recite.

4. Don't be afraid to ask for help - if there is some portion of this that you feel unable to do, please let me know. I'll still make you do it, but I'll help.

Blog Question: What paragraph are you having the most trouble with? Would an in-class project or activity help?
